Muang Mai - Market
You can get all of your fruit and vegetables including all the weird and wonderful ones such as Jack Fruit, Durian or Stinky Bean amongst many other products. This market is situated near the American Consulate off the Northern corner of the moat.
Somphet - Market
Good range of fruit and vegetables. This market is off of Moonmuang Soi 7.
Kad Luang (Worawat) - Market
Absolutely huge market that opens very early in the morning and sells everything. This market is on the river near the traffic police.
Rimping - Stores
There are many branches of this supermarket in the city, four main branches and various other smaller branches usually found within shopping malls or plazas. Check out their website for exact details. Rimping sells everything including dairy and meat, but I have been have able to find specialist vegetarian and vegan products as well as the things that you miss from back home. Nuts and seeds, specialist fruit and vegetables and I have even found things like raw vegan cake and vegan cheese here. But I warn you, it is over-priced. www.rimping.com
Vegetarian Thai Restaurants
Most of the Thai style vegetarian restaurants have products for sale such as texture soy protein, cooking sauces, dried snacks and much more.
Good Health
There are a number of health stores around the city and this is a particularly good one that is in a central location, at 48/4-5 Sridonchai Road, Hayya Muang Chiang Mai, (close to Pantip Plaza.) The phone number is 053 206 888. They are open from 09:30 AM-6:00 PM every day except Sunday when they are open from 10:30 AM until 3:30 PM. They sell absolutely everything that you could need for your cooking including pastes, oils, seeds, nuts, cereals, coffees, teas, snacks and much more. They also sell a range of health beauty products, incense, burning oils etc. I haven't seen any products that are not at least vegetarian.
The Royal Project
The Royal Project is an organic farm produce development that was initiated by his majesty the King
some forty years ago which gives livelihood to the Chiang Mai hill tribe people who were previously
making their income from opium production, which the Royal Project replaced. There are several
branches of Royal Project Shops, but you can also simply look out for their produce label, which is
sold all over Chiang Mai. Their range of fruit and vegetables is particularly good and not too expensive
for organic produce.
