May Kaidee is famous in Thailand for her vegetarian restaurants and cooking schools in the country. I have been to the Bangkok branch near Khao Sahn Road, the food there is amazing. She also used to have a branch near the Reggae area in Chiang Mai; I used to frequent it regularly until they unfortunately closed down a few years ago.

I was thrilled to recently discover that she has a newly opened branch in the old city! I haven’t heard it talked about much at all and I wonder how many people know about it. I happened to cycle past it and I went back and tried it the very next day.

The café is well signposted but it is a tiny place, on the side road between Tapae Road and Chiang Moi. I have only been once at the moment but it is a quiet place and they didn’t have much custom which I hope can only improve as the word gets out.

The food is as excellent as always. It’s all Thai food but there are some interesting options and spicy salads that you don’t see on a standard Thai menu. Tastes great and is cheap. She also told me that they have a buffet on Sundays which sounds like it is extremely good value.

I’ll be back for more very soon! This place is seriously good. We are lucky to have another branch back in Chiang Mai.
