Khao Mao Khao Fang is not a vegetarian restaurant and does not claim to be. The reason I have decided to mention it here is because they do have a separate vegetarian menu which you need to ask for. I considered that some vegetarians might come here without even knowing that they do have this special menu, and I was impressed that they had this on offer.

 

I found the food to be very delicious and satisfying and besides the vegetarian menu they were able to make the dishes from their ordinary menu vegan as well with no problem. My vegetarian and non-vegetarian fellow diners have all been impressed on every visit, so this is a good option if you are with a group of people with varying diets.

 

Unlike The Riverside, it is out of town so not crowded or busy. Prices are about the same. This also makes for a special occasion it has a very posh and luxurious feel to it. Aside from the food issue, what really makes this restaurant special is the setting. It is in a truly beautiful garden which nowhere else in Chiang Mai can really compare to and the whole building is very unique and grand. Although, I did not find it as mind-blowing as it's original branch which is in Mae Sot.

 

Khao Mao Khao Fang is on the road that leads to the Night Safari, which is off from the highway 108 leading to Hang Dong away from the airport.
