This cute, quaint and modest little café is right in the heart of the old city where you will find a lot of restaurants that are vegetarian or cater well for vegetarians such as Dada which is right opposite or Taste of Heaven just up the road, so any restaurant must strive to do well here because of the competition. Juicy 4 U is a favourite of mine as it’s quite unpretentious and I can remember it being here from when I first arrived in Chiang Mai years ago. It has not changed since then either.

Even though this restaurant caters for foreigners, it has an authentic Thai feel to it. It has a relaxing and comforting vibe with friendly smiles from the staff. The food is delicious and healthy. The menu isn’t huge, but you can get classic Thai curries as well as the sandwiches which really are the main feature of this little place. You can choose between either sliced wholemeal bread or pitta bread. I found the bread to be particularly tasty. Tasty bread isn’t something that can be found too easily over here, but Juicy 4 U certainly has done. You can choose up to ten fillings, which I was impressed to see included avocado, when in season. If you are vegan, please make sure you tell them, as they can therefore provide you with a dairy free alternative to mayonnaise. Soups, tofu burgers and other vegetarian favourites were on offer.

Plenty of choices with the juices and fruit shakes, which you can get with extra shots of things like wheatgrass, spirulina or bee pollen. I was also particularly impressed to see that they have desserts which included raw options. Breakfast options are available too.

This is a really good spot for a great-tasting, filling, wholesome lunch. Or breakfast, or dinner!
