Ming Kwan is one of the most famous Thai style vegetarian (vegan) restaurants in Chiang Mai. You can find listings and reviews of here quite easily on the Internet. The reasons for this are probably because it's ideal location in the old city right opposite Wat Pra Singh and within the Sunday night market, making it certain to attract a lot of traffic from both tourists and locals who are shopping in the night market or visiting the temple. The, other reason must be because of it's unusually late opening hours as you can still get food here until about 8:00 at night.

 

The range of food is good although it is the typical Thai fayre I found a few interesting dishes and everything was pretty tasty as well as cheap. Everything is laid out buffet style - no orders here. Even when I have been there quite late, there have been a fair few dishes left to choose from. Even though it's a fairly small shop, they do have a good selection. There is also a seating area and you can find both tourists and locals here.

 

It is a slightly awkward spot to get to bec ause of the one way system and the fact that it is pedestrians only on a Sunday due to the market, however, this is a great, late, cheap eat spot.
