I believe there are three branches of Pun Pun, and I promise to get round to reviewing all of them soon. For now, this review is based on visits of only the Hang Dong branch. I am not sure how much each one differs.

Firstly, Pun Pun does not actually claim to be vegetarian even though they are known for being a vegetarian food place. Mostly, they are. However, we did see chicken on the menu, which disappointed me although I was pleased to see at least that it is free range. I also saw a couple of fish options.

On the other end of the scale I was also very pleased to see several raw options, not only a main dish but also several desserts. It is also all organic.

There is a small store, which sells a range of organic items, natural cosmetics and various food products but I didn't see any indication of what was vegan which was necessary particularly with the chilled product such as the desserts which usually aren't.

On to the menu items, the shakes are very good, water is free and the plain juices can be bought for only 30 BAHT and topped up for free. The main dishes are also good, there is an interesting variety which isn't just Thai food but includes burritos and even an interesting mix such as a laab burrito. I have only tried the standard one, but it is huge and bursting with flavours, for me it is probably the best I've ever had in Chiang Mai, despite having to asking them to hold back on the ingredients such as the yoghurt and sour cream. This is a great space to eat in, plain and simple open air setting in their vegetable garden and nicely spacious.

Any vegetarian will love Pun Pun for the decent, mostly only, veggie food. A vegan will also like it but won't find things as simple.
