Cuisine: European Vegan and Vegetarian Food
Ko Lanta might at first seem a little daunting for a vegetarian or vegan due to the lack of only vegetarian eateries. Do not let this put you off. A lot of places that offer vegetarian food do have some excellent choices. Even the places that don't openly advertise veggie options will also have the tofu and non-meat options. I would particularly recommend Irie Bar which even has vegan desserts.

However, if you are looking for a truly unique experience then go to Kunda. It really is a step away from your usual Thai fayre and in fact for me it was a step away from anything I'd eaten before! Their round the world cuisne includes Polish and Hungarian dishes which is a very unusual find here in Thailand. All their food is vegetarian but we could only find a few dishes that actually specified as being vegan, although it does state in the menu that they can adapt almost anything. We would have still liked some more specific vegan choices in the menu.

Along with the nearby Happy Veggie, they are the only two all veggie places on the island.

Although the food is pricey, the portions sizes are good and you will not be left hungry as the food is very wholesome and filling. The bread is so tasty and fluffy and the vegan supreme sandwich was out of this world. They also have shakes and teas and coffees as well as wine.
This gaff is also a really interesting place to sit and look around as it has a shop attached selling clothes and other decorative merchandise. There are cats around to cuddle too! It's a small cafe though with limited seating so we should warn you that it can be very busy in high season and you may have to wait a while for food.

Although the prices at Kunda may seem a little steep, I find it to be justified as this is very far from your usual Thai stuff and international food is always more expensive anyway. Food like this is a real treat and we all deserve to treat ourselves once in a while.
